Since 1977, Cozy Kitchens has been a family-owned and operated business on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Nestled in the quaint village of Kitty Hawk, our 25,000-square-foot showroom and manufacturing facility houses our world-class production workshop, and a top-notch design team and displays our many options of cabinets, countertops, flooring, and more. Our name has changed over the years, but our exceptional service has not!
The History of Cozy Kitchens & Cozy Home Custom Cabinets
Originally begun as Cozy Home Custom Cabinets in a building of approximately 100 square feet, founder Cliff Neal began hand-making custom cabinetry & furniture pieces for local contractors. As the business grew, he purchased land in Kitty Hawk Village and changed locations, moving less than a mile down the road.
Cliff grew up in Seattle and moved with his family to Florida in his teen years. As a young surfer, the waves & contracting work on the Outer Banks beckoned to him and he relocated here in 1973. He married his wife Margaret in 1974 and together they made their permanent home on the Outer Banks. He was a talented craftsman and was always good at taking on challenging designs and out-of-the-ordinary custom spaces and pieces.
A master craftsman in both design and execution, Cliff was often found in the shop creating and building his designs. His passions were working with his hands and his family.
In 2003 after an unfortunate fire that destroyed the original building, Cliff was given the challenging task of rebuilding Cozy from the ground up. Though emotionally draining, the opportunity was taken to refine every process to reflect our goal of providing the highest quality, paired with the most outstanding service.

Since Cliff’s passing in 2017, his wife Margaret has taken over full ownership of Cozy Kitchens along with son Nathan Neal as President and CEO. Following in his father’s footsteps, Nathan continues to strive for quality and perfection, to keep the family-owned and operated business thriving, and to contribute to the local community in a manner that echoes his father’s generous spirit.
Over the years as the OBX has grown and developed and the demand for custom cabinetry and baths has increased, Cozy has stayed a forerunner in the cabinet, tile, and appliance industry. Our evolution as a company and our years of experience have sharpened our vision and reignited a passion for what we do. We continually strive to achieve productivity, service, and quality unparalleled on the Outer Banks!
